Tessera Groups

2nd & 4th Sundays

A tessera is a small block of stone, tile, glass, or other material used in the construction of a mosaic.

Our lives are like pieces of tessera in that they each tell stories of brokenness and hope. We believe in the power of these stories being intentionally shared together.

To be formed within the rescue of Jesus requires slowing down, getting small, and being present to each other’s stories. Unfortunately, it’s often possible to keep busy with a flurry of church activity and programming that we avoid these kinds of movements. At Mosaic, we believe in the sacred being fully at home in the mundane.

On Tessera Sunday weekends we do not gather as a whole church family, but we all participate in opening space for one another as we all become hosts to others in simple places like living rooms, patios, shared tables, along paths, and so much more. Some people choose to cultivate Tessera families that become the same group of people that gather on Tessera Sunday weekends. Others choose to cultivate Tessera circles that look unique and different each time. This is our practice.

We invite you to reach out to us if you’d like to talk with any of our leadership about Tessera Sunday weekend movement.
